Bennett Miller

“When you are true to yourself and follow through with things that connect with you meaningfully, somehow things fall into place.”
Storytelling

Bennett is an Academy Award-nominated filmmaker and visual artist, best known for his feature films, Capote, Moneyball, and Foxcatcher. He has been nominated twice for the Academy Award for Best Director and won the Best Director Award at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival for Foxcatcher.

As a visual artist, he began to show his work in 2023 with solo exhibitions at the Gagosian Gallery in New York and Los Angeles. The works, prints of imagery developed with generative AI, testify to a pioneering shift in the landscape of creative expression. By linking the transformative power of new technology with the dawn of photography and the birth of mechanical reproduction, these works engage the history and format of photography to pose questions around the contingent and enigmatic nature of perception, reality, and truth. This inquiry, made newly urgent by revolutionary innovations in computing, suggests an imminent and even greater shift in perception. There is a forthcoming European exhibition and a book, both with Gagosian.
