Conjuring moments of visual glee
Film & Television
Storytelling

Stephen is a Visual Effects Supervisor for film, tv, and music productions. He has contributed to such notable feature film productions as Avatar, Forrest Gump, Jurassic Park, Terminator 2, and Contact. His recent projects in real-time visual effects and digital humans have been driven by the joy of combining emerging technologies and design concepts to create inventive content.

Stephen founded a digital human production company that leverages machine learning tools to faithfully codify human facial expression of recognized personalities for original performances, including Michael Jackson posthumously singing and dancing to a previously unreleased song, and recreating the band ABBA at age 30 singing a new song in a music video.

Stephen is a three time Academy Award nominee, winning twice both Oscar and BAFTA awards for his work on Forrest Gump and Avatar. He is an active member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Graphics from the University of California, Berkeley. When not making pretty pictures, Stephen can be spotted bombing down Marin County trails on his mountain bike.
