Evgeny is an Israeli-American film director, producer and cinematographer. He has built his film-making career on providing a first-hand account of conflict demonstrating a commitment to document stories of change and social justice. As a teenager, he won First Prize for Best Documentary at the Black Sea International Film Festival in Russia. In 2016 he was nominated for an Academy Award and Emmys for his documentary Winter on Fire. In 2018 he received Humanitas Prize and Cinema for Peace Awards, and earned 4 Emmy nominations for his documentary Cries from Syria.
Evgeny’s documentary featuring Pope Francis Francesco provides an intimate look at a global leader who approaches challenging and complex issues with humility, wisdom and generosity towards all. In 2020 Catholics in Media Associates awarded him with the CIMA Social Justice Award for his passion for telling stories that matter, his love for humanity, and work for justice.
